CBBC's The Zoo was a project I had the privilege of working on with a great team at Hello Charlie. The Zoo is a comedy mockumentary for kids, set in a zoo with talking animals. Zoo Animals were brought to life by animated additions to facial features, in particular the replacement of their muzzle sections.
I sculpted, modelled and textured the muzzles for the
Gorrilas, Tigers, Baboons and Tortoises.

NHL All-Star VR Experience
Before Christmas I was asked to work on another Virtual Reality project with a studio based in Manchester called Flipbook. I was asked to build and texture the main Players and Goalies for the NHL All-star VR experience. Below are some look dev renders and preview of the VR footage, view more of the players on my portfolio page.

Some Colour Tests for a Character Line up I've been working. I find painting over Renders helps really quickly block out some colour palettes on characters before going on to texturing.

Google Spotlight Stories
Whilst working at Aardman Animations I spent some time working on one of the Google Spotlight stories called Special Delivery, following the adventures of a humble caretaker, who is disturbed by a mysterious stranger on the roof. Spotlight Stories are a new form of 360-degree Interactive storytelling made specifically for mobile and VR. A lovely project to be a part of, I helped with enviroment build and optimization of set and textures.

I was recommended Quixel from a friend quite some time ago but just got round to purchasing it and trying it out. Really easy to use through Photoshop and give a very nice result on some Low poly Armour I built for a Knight character.

A global cinema ad I had the pleasure of working on with Aardman Animations. I was responsible for modelling and sculpting some of the characters, then lighting and rendering on some of the shots.

A couple of silhouettes I took a bit further starting to fill out some detail.

I've recently started to use Silhouette thumbnails as a part of my workflow, its a great way of exploring lots of design ideas very quickly and I have to say I wish I had started a lot sooner! Here are some early character designs I'm working on at the moment for a very exciting project.
I was very skeptical at first as I feel far more at ease jumping straight into Zbrush and letting a sculpt take form as I go. I usually have an overall idea of what I want to achieve in my mind. I know Silhouettes have been around for some time but every time I've attempted to concept using them I find myself staring at a blank white document thinking "where do I start!" With 3D I start with a cube or a sphere and mold it into the shape I desire a lot like working with clay, so I thought what if I did the same in 2D? So I put down a very rough shape almost a blob in black, then using the eraser start to chip away at the shape.
Only when I'm happy with the overall form will I then start to introduce additional details. This technique has allowed me to get past that initial block of worry to much about the small details before taking care of the overall form. Instead of having to draw a Silhouette one will emerge as you start to chip away at the shape.
